Bill Smith’s career in vocational rehabilitation began in the early 70’s after completing a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Arizona. His first job out of graduate school was as Director of Rehabilitation for the Arizona Foundation for the Handicapped which included a sheltered workshop. He has experience with American Sign Language and has worked with TBI, PTSD, Veterans, catastrophic, LTD, longshore, harbor workers, and complex cases with overlapping challenges. He is experienced in many jurisdictions and with self-insured employers. Bill joined the Ability team in 2017 after retiring from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries where he was instrumental in developing the Stay at Work program. Bill completed the Professional Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) certification and is an Activity Coach. He is also certified through he College of Sports Medicine as a personal training. In his free time, Bill enjoys swimming. He is a competitive master’s swimmer. Bill serves Thurston/Mason/Lewis, Grays Harbor, Pierce, Cowlitz and Clark Counties.
